Kamp for Kids is located on the grounds of Western Mass Hospital in Westfield, provides recreational summer day camp activities for able-bodied and disabled children and young adults ages 3-22.

The Kamp runs two-week sessions in July and August, during which campers are offered activities such as:

  • Swimming
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Recreational Games
  • Nature Walks
  • Challenge Education - consisting of an accessible ropes and beams course which encourages cooperation and trust between participants.

Funding is available through the Department of Mental Retardation, the Department of Social Services, and School Systems for those who are eligible. Limited scholarships are available for able-bodied campers through private foundations and Community Development grants once eligibility criteria are met.

Transportation to and from Kamp is provided for those who reside within Hampden/Hampshire counties. For some areas a pick-up point is designated.

Abilities Unlimited also operates a site similar to Kamp for Kids called Camp Togowauk at 754 Russell Road, Westfield. Camp Togowauk offers a variety of summer activities including swimming, arts and crafts, group activities and nature walks.
