PLUS (People Learning Under Supervision) is a nine-week summer program designed to provide a meaningful work experience in human services to urban high school seniors and college students.

Inner-city youth are provided an overview of human services, with special emphasis on the services of the Department of Mental Retardation and its providers.

There are 4 goals:

  • To introduce students to human services as a possible career field.
  • To provide additional support for persons with disabilities.
  • To find meaningful summer employment for people ages 18-24.
  • To build a work force that racially and culturally reflects the communities served by the Department of Mental Retardation.
